I have lent a total of about $2.3 million to various friends and have never gotten a penny back. The money doesn't bother me, but usually afterwards, the friend just wants to hide from me. I should of just said it's a gift upfront to avoid the confrontation. But then still I still want to get it back if the person wants to be honest. It's a tough balance. That's what banks are for.

I think lending money to friends is a major mistake! I just had someone ask me and she is very irresponsible with her own money (the very reason she needed to borrow from me) and I had to say no to her and explain why.
