Dog Day In The Park 2009 hosted by Grand Rapids Kennel Club

Welcome to Dog Day In The Park hosted by Grand Rapids Kennel Club! This annual day-long extravaganza was held on May 30, 2009 to promote responsible dog ownership and included educational booths, apartment housing for dog owners,facepainting and jewelry making, spinning dog hair into yarn, demonstrations of various types including agility, obedience, rally, frisbee®, showmanship, dog sledding, agility, weight pulling, retrieving and more. Gerry Barnaby of 95.7 W-Lite was this year's emcee. Additionally, Canine Good Citizen evaluations were conducted, rescue groups and vendors were available to offer information regarding services and products. The Police Canine Unit conducted demonstrations. Regent Broadcasting featured a "Prettiest Pup" Pet Photo Contest with the winner receiving $200 in gift cards from Chowhound and VIPets. There were carnival games, Sonshine D Clown and concessionaires with great food. Prizes and "goodies" were to attendees and contest winners! Exciting contests were judged by Dr. Karyl Ropko, DVM of Northeast Cat & Dog Hospital. Each winner received a ribbon and the BEST DOG received a rosette ribbon. The contests were:
Fastest Kisser in 60 seconds, Best Trick, Longest Ears, Waggiest Tail, Best Vocal Styling, Fastest Recall, A COSTUME CONTEST AND BEST DOG at DOG DAY IN THE PARK AWARD. There was also a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel fun match with a genuine bagpiper. Also held was a parade of breeds. A blessing of the dogs concluded the event.
