Since Christopher Lee was not asked to don the vampire's cape in the sequel to Horror of Dracula, entitled "Brides of Dracula", the screenwriters invented an equally clever, bloodthirsty vampire as the antagonist of the film, Baron Meinster (David Peel). But Meinster has a strong difference from the King of Vampires: his dashing appearance and noble manners attract easily his victims, thus when not using hypnotic powers, he still attracts the same attention. David Peel, in my opinion, is the second best Hammer vampire, since a fanged blond with a deeper and more menacing voice when calm and a vicious, furious accent when enraged is equally terrifying as Christopher Lee's vampire.

Although this is a Baron Meinster tribute, it is also a tribute to Dr. Van Helsing, amazingly played by legendary Peter Cushing. I originally wanted to use a good vampire song for this video, but since I liked none of those I tested, I went with a hit of one of my favorite bands, Europe, "Stormwind".

I own neither the song nor the clips from the movie. I don't make money out of this video; I have made it just for fun. Please comment or rate.

  • @twilson11208 I agree completely with this statement!

  • I'm making a picture of a guy I know as a vampire and I'm using Baron Meinster as a model.

  • @sheilatx

    in 1981 i believe.

  • @DeaneShafortock yeah i do: hes cute, an amzing actor, and compared to that whole twighlight crap my friends watch, he kicks major ass. by the way thanks for mentioning peter cushing, hes my fav classic movie star:)

  • Back when vampires, and vampire hunters, had dignity.

  • @twilson11208 I certainly had no complaints! His performance was just fine! (Not to mention very creepy!)

  • @leaderstragg : Let's just say out of all of them, he came as close a match to Lee as one can get.

  • @twilson11208 In other words: He was no Christopher Lee but he was still pretty effective!

  • @britishlaw Why did he retire?

  • @DeaneShafortock : While I love Christopher Lee and regard him as the best of all in this genre, I'd have to say Mr.David Peel was equally as good. Far more handsome, that angelic face was such a stark contrast to his excellent portrayal of evil, his voice alone was sooooo sinister it still sends chills up my spine.
