Currently the system in place is built to protect the website and target the actual poster of the copywritten material. I actually work for a website and deal with a lot of Copyright and Trademark issues. We've been trying to establish a more substantial practice for dealing with this very thing though on a somewhat smaller scale. (The content we sell isn't quite as popular as music and movies.) I think it would be best to improve what is there instead of trying to find an easy way out.

@StarGazer2o2 This would only effect Americans, unless other governments decide to follow in our footsteps. I do not support this bill, just saying the facts.

i love getting shit free from terrentz... but tgis law makes a lot of logical sense.... torrent sites take the piss by downloading for free... this will get the entertainment business back to its former condition.. good people dont need laws and bad people will break them anyway... someone will syill offer illegal downloads.. but the owner wont be able to spam us with adverts...

Do you think the reason they have both the SOPA & PIPA out in public at the same time is so that while the populations are goin nuts over stopping the SOPA act they "think" (and only think b/c their old tricks of making us watch one hand while their other hand quietly SCREWS YOU BLINDLY will never work again!!) they can quietly push the PIPA act thru congress without people voicing their independent thoughts & opinions WHICH WILL END UP persuading them (VOTERS) to vote NAY!!!!???!!!!

There are 312 million of us and over 1.8 million of them...U CAN F*CK WITH OUR COUNTRY, DON'T F*CK WITH OUR INTERNET. If they do I will stop voting to keep them in office. I read in the paper that they said it has nothing to do with illegal movies & music they claim it's about stopping online drugs, The US GOVERNMENT HAS A 12% approval rating there more screwed up than Obama who is between 41%-49%

I don't understand how the U.S. can do this... The internet isn't just the U.S. it's the world. If the U.S. does it then as you said the rest of the world does it, what will be left? The mild PBS crap? It just makes no sense... If things like facebook, twitter, flickr and our beloved youtube are taken down how can the U.S. expect to not see other countries respond because the U.S. is being unfair to them. Sorry if I'm reiterating but I just don't get how the U.S. can even think this is logical.

Me:Hey guys I'm back from Canada
*learns about SOPA & PIPA*
Well, fuck. Back to Canada
Ricky, thanks for posting this to bring awareness to your viewers. I wish other youtubers would follow suit, but not many of them had done so.
I realised on twitter that a lot of ppl either don't know about pipa and sopa, or just don't think they will pass just "because it's google! "
It's important to talk about it and make known that we the internet users are not down with that by petitioning to their congressman.
I don't live in the US but these two acts affect me as well.
