1940s Flying Wing

This is the experimental aircraft that preceded the jet age noncommercial flying wings you typically see today. The program was contracted through Northrop by the US Airforce at the time and while in progress this aircraft was mistaken for numerous UFO sightings. This was the prototype that survived the dismantling process of the program after the program was halted around 1950 by the US Airforce. Unfortunately new flying wings would not be made for another 35 years. The shutdown of the project led to slowdown in aviation technology especially for passenger travel. Had Northrop pursued the flying wing further airline travel would have already long ago been flying wing instead of conventional carrying up to 800-1000 passengers at a time with further mileage and capable of super sonic speeds. As it stands now passenger based flying wings have now been in development for apx 5 years. I was one of the few lucky ones today to see this historic flight of the only existing 1940s flying wing as shown in this video taken with a Sony Cybershot. All rights reserved Kenny Irwin 2006©. I suggest you pick a BOOK about WW2 and read where Germany had 80% of all their casaulties in the war. That's right the Eastern Front! On D-day there were 60 German divisions in France, whereas there were over 230 German divisions trying to stop the already advancing Red Army on the Eastern Front.

Point and case in this video . if you look at american technological evolution it becomes clear that after the war they clearly had plenty of items of nazi germany . even the mighty abrams has part of the american german prototype features , i really love videos like this it proves how in most cases the victors lie and steal .

Beautiful plane. But the flying wings are very unstable. And the germans crashed theirs. You need a powerful computer to fly big flying wings and the germans didnt have that.

@freakyflow Do you know what the population of Canada is today? Try 20 million and 8 million during WW2. If you knew any thing Roosevelt gave priority aid to Britian Americans died in the Phillipines, Wake Island,Midway, and more. I told U 5,000 US Merchant Marine sailors died bringing that fuel and other supplies to Britain and Russia. USA lost many tankers that what started our Liberty Ship Building to the point we were building a new Liberty Ship every day and loot it up yourself.

Canada, Australlia, New zealand, South Africa, India, British Malaya etc added to forces of 12 million men You suppled high octance fuel...at a cost..btw how did you get it there when all your ships were fighting in the west coast? what ships did you use to defend the tankers? ..it was Canadians defending your east coast shipping lines..which was under british rule
