@unamaxify Regarding the base I find it astonishing that the VAZ 2101 I own is such a reliable and well-built automobile.

The funny thing is, the VAZ 2107 is based on the Fiat 124. And the Lada guys in Togliatti/Russia improved it, gave it a better suspension, toughened up the body's structure, improved the engine, improved the heating system, the Russians made the better car. I don't want to know what a piece of c..p the Fiat 124 was.

The only respectable Lada is the NIVA, which is tough as a tank for off-road expeditions, and even tougher than a Suzuki Jimny or Samurai.
