The 36-year-old Van Boxtel started as an artist 14 years ago. Previous to this he was at graphic design school and finishing military service. That was until his mother advised him to become a salesman due to his gift of the gab. I started as a door-to-door salesman which I was good at. Although a rookie, I quickly became head salesman. And after two and a half years I ended up selling lingerie. One day out of the blue I turned to my boss and said I quit, Im going to paint. So this is how I started at 21 years old. I put up with the lack of money and started going to an evening class at the open college of art. The drive I had was just so great. Unlike his colleagues from Kwasten Met De Gasten, he did not use the streets as his canvas.
