Mattie Stepanek

Mattie Stepanek was a 13 year old boy who had a rare form of muscular dystrophy. He was a poet, a peacemaker, and one of my all time heroes. The song is "He Was Just Like Me" written and recorded by Mattie's friend Madison Cross in memory of him.

This is a great song and he was a wonderful boy. I have read his poems and they are great.

I have read the comments aobut him and i am ashamed of all of those who posted that. How about you try to write poetry, and at his age also. How hard do you think his life must have been and yet every time we see him he has a huge smiled on his face. You all who put hate comments are just sad and a shame of the whole human race.

Mattie was the same age as i am now when he died, 13. Yet, his wisdom and cognition were so much more advanced than any 13 year old i've ever met, including myself. He was still a child when he passed, yet he embraced his disbility and displayed his awareness and insight in a beautiful way. I'd give anything for the world to be just like him.

@kittykaties true that. I knew him personally and i sit here in amazement at these f**king idiots who have no idea who he was and how beautiful of a person he was. He was my friend for a few years in my life. Those people that talk like that have no talent or must be completely ignorant to the fact that disabled people are humans no matter what the hell they say. Pardon my language....but yeah.
