If a person having an asthma attack doesn't have an inhaler, it's important for them to exhale stale air as slowly as possible. Find out why it's so important to keep a person who's having an asthma attack calm with help from a nurse and respiratory care practitioner in this free video on respiratory therapy and healthy breathing.

  • I am glad that someone took the time to post helpful info on youtube.

  • I'm surprised this wasn't mentioned, but for many, having a caffeinated drink can help, as caffeine is a bronchodilator (albeit a mild one). Tea or cola came in handy for me at various points. Drinking water in general can help. And if you have access to steam, it is useful for some. You should not encourage them to lie down, that makes it harder to breathe. Sitting, leaning forward works. Do all these things before it becomes bad enough that it's a huge emergency.

  • @Drawingfreak48124 -->911 should be called. School nurses are limited by regulations in what they are allow to do in routine and emergency care. Basically if the asthma attack is severe no matter where you are, the best action is to call 911. The paramedics have the meds needed. Most doctors office CAN NOT handle handle respiratory distress or any other severe situations. Jim RN

  • Sometimes I suffer coughing attacks related to asthma and eating a piece of bread immediately soothes me lol weird I know, but it does help me and could help someone else. :)

  • I have asthma real bad but a drink can really help

  • what if you are at school, you shouldn't call 911?

  • Chemo- & radio- "therapies" are NEVER efficacious with regards to malignant (trophoblastic) growth—for in the long history of chronic metabolic diseases none have, nor could they possibly be, cured through mechanical manipulation of the body. The preventative, control & cure for this singular, noncommunicable disease known as cancer is the naturally-occurring-cyanide-rich substance: Amygdalin (a.k.a. vitamin B17, & in its refined state: Laetrile).
