As well as a "genuine" Midland Red owned D9 on service 865, there are also WMPTE owned D9 types working from Walsall garage in this short film taken in 1976 in Walsall (Bradford Place) and Cannock (Bus Station).

One person from Walsall garage in the 1970's who I see from time to time is Dave Wall - I don't know if you knew him. He's involved with the Aston Manor Transport Museum nowadays - as are some other ex WMPTE people.

  • Hi 119 great clip , I worked out of Birchills depot in Walsall from 1974 to 1978 so I could have been driving one of the buses in the clip. I left the area in 78 and havent been back since. Your using a fleet number as your name I definately drove 119L abd I passed my test in 115L As ive only just discovered this site give me achance and it might waken some more memories. Thanks for a great memory lane ,regards Jim

I've never drove buses, but travelled a lot on the ones in my videos.

Regarding 119 (XDH119G) it was the last bus delivered new (1969) to the old Walsall Corporation bus undertaking and I travelled on it when it was new.

No. 116 still exists in operable condition and travelled on this earlier this month.
