WTF R U MENTAL? ITS NOTHIN LIKE IT MAROON 5 IS WAAAAAYY TOO LAME FOR LP TO COPY!!!!!!!!!!
-
Do you know how hard it is to make something completely original these days? I mean something that doesnt sound like crap btw.
-
Who cares? There are only so many chord progressions out there, only so many melodies, there are bound to be copies intentionally or by mistake.
-
@viperdude281 ok, it's possible that u2's with or without you could have been an influential song for linkin park's making of shadow of the day. but that in no way means that they ripped u2 off. just sayin.
-
@ConnerLuymesLP I know that it a very popular progression. What I was getting at is that both songs use the same main backing instrument (bass)/tempo and pretty much the exact same drum style. I think I used the wrong word choice in my last comment though when I said Linkin Park ripped the song from U2. What I ment was that "with or without you" was most likely a big influence on the song.

@viperdude281 eeehh, nah. it's just the same chord progression. look up the axis of awesome four chord song. the same four chords used in these songs. these are four of the most used/popular chords in most songs. it doesn't suprise me at all that linkin park, u2, and maroon 5 have at least one song with the same chords.
-
@ConnerLuymesLP Well it is the EXACT same tempo and the song promotes the same feeling. U2 are very influencial so I wouldn't be suprised if Linkin Park ripped a song off them.
-
it's the same chord progression....does that mean that linkin park, 6 of the most creative minds in the industry, ripped off 2 other bands that had the same chord progression? no.
have you ever heard of the 4 chord song, by axis of awesome? look it up. it's the same deal. this chord progression used in these 3 songs is used in hundreds of songs. their song actually uses the maroon 5 and u2 songs used here. don't accuse linkin park of stealing if you don't know what you're talking about.

i heard completely different guitar and drum change ups and voice pitches. I guess just because you people hear a snare at the same point every now and then, you think its the same song.

This is utterly crazy!!! if I had a pound for every time I've heard this same melody I'd be pretty rich by now!! everyone from whitney Houston to the lighthouse family have used it at some point! its one of the most generic melodies in the history of popular music!!!!!!!!!
Thanx for the comment. Pass it on if you can!
