It's not really that I can't, but stepmania puts a great strain on my hands as the community seems to favor pretty much only mashing and extreme speed files nowadays, so it's not as fun as it once was. I've been going through a lot of wrist pain through the past year.
Not saying that IIDX doesn't do the same, but I try to not to push myself too much when playing, I just tend to go overboard a lot more often when playing stepmania.
