On the 30th of September 2007, Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett, Sam Harris and Christopher Hitchens sat down for a first-of-its-kind, unmoderated 2-hour discussion, convened by RDFRS and filmed by Josh Timonen.

All four authors have recently received a large amount of media attention for their writings against religion - some positive, and some negative. In this conversation the group trades stories of the public's reaction to their recent books, their unexpected successes, criticisms and common misrepresentations. They discuss the tough questions about religion that face to world today, and propose new strategies for going forward.

  • @AussieEvonne the breakfast of champions is vagina. :P

  • Halp! I can't stop watching these!

  • I find it frustrating that the strongest intellectuals in that room are less personality dominant. Dawkins and Dennett need to take this conversation back. Either way, it's refreshing and I think indicative of how modern scientists are willing to listen to one another without the sickening arrogance and dismissiveness you find amongst religious 'intellectuals'.

  • not that he stopped either. just a blip.

  • sorry, how they'd discuss this. bah!

  • up to the point where Hitchens talked about extirpating the jihadists, he had said many things that were insightful and that the rest had maybe not considered. Scott Atran step in please. I know he's not a popular guy but if Hitchens had stuck around for longer I would have loved to see what they discussed about this.

  • @saidox Lord knows (no pun intended).

  • sorry but hitchens is a bit of a knob, he makes extreme arguments just to be contrary to create an illusion that he's always on some higher intellectual plane, dawkins politely brings him down to earth but not before he's wasted valuable debating time telling everyone he like debating in a very convoluted way

  • i think hitchens had too much johnnie walker

  • lol hitchens just wants the ultimate debate to go on knowing it's a slaughter fest
