@bectonbrainwave I think Lennon was disappointed in Paul's beginning. But as time moved along Lennon was very proud of Paul's accomplishments in the group Wings. In 1976 there was a rumour that they were going to do a reunion tour. I think John resigned himself to the fact that Paul was the driving force of the Beatles and he was getting more accomplished when Back to the Egg came and his first solo album. John never criticized Paul again.

I believe Lennon was amazed at Paul's success after the Beatles. Perhaps "amazed" is not the correct word, but "proud" of him (stated by Yoko) because he carried on the Beatles Legend better than the other three Beatles combined. It's a fact. His song writing ability in Albums, Singles, Videos, Number Ones, Film Songs, Classical, Solos, Alternate Music out distance the other three Artists.
