From 1911 to the present day, many actresses have tackled the role of Anne Boleyn in numerous different ways. I have made a short film in two parts, using some of the many actresses who have played the role of England's most influential & important Queen Consort. The Actresses are as follows:

Merle Oberon -- Private Life of Henry VIII (1933)

Elaine Stuart -- Young Bess (1953)

Vanessa Redgrave -- A Man for all Seasons (1966)

Genevieve Bujold -- Anne of the Thousand Days (1969)

Dorothy Tutin -- The Six Wives of Henry VIII (BBCTV) (1971)

Charlotte Rampling -- Henry VIII & his Six Wives (1972)

Barbara Kellerman -- Henry VIII (1979)

Oona Kirsch -- God's Outlaw (1986)

Julia Marsden -- The Six Wives of Henry VIII (2001)

Jodhi May -- The Other Boleyn Girl (BBCTV) (2003)

Helena Bonham Carter -- Henry VIII (ITV) (2003)

Natalie Portman -- The Other Boleyn Girl (2008)

Natalie Dormer -- The Tudors (TV) (2007/ 2008)

I do not agree or like a number of the performances, but all have been instrumental in bringing to life one of the most misunderstood women in history.

No copyright infringement intended, I own nothing! Just for entertainment. I hope you enjoy!

  • i watched both long parts with my slower than snail connection just to see redgrave but she just appeared for 3 seconds in part 1 and not even one in part 2. what a dissapointment i must say

  • @ConfusedSponge unfortunately she only makes an uncredited cameo appearance as Anne in 'A Man for all Seasons,' and doesn't speak, so what you see is what you get!

  • Anne Boleyn has always been my favourite of all of Henry's wives. Although most people do not agree i think that Natalie Portman did an amazing job as Anne. i don't think they could have found anyone more fit for her. at some parts she over acted but she did an amazing job. and Natalie Dormer WAS Anne. she portrayed her so well!

  • I actually thought that Natalie Portman did a very good job. She and N. Dormer are my two favorites.

  • I love the song playing when Anne is excited what is it from and who the artist

  • I was soooo excited that Natalie Portman was going to be playing Anne Boleyn. Then I was soooo disappointed at her portrayal in 'The Other Boleyn Girl.' I realize that some of it was the writing but her acting was just not up to par. She didn't *become* Anne as she became Nina in 'Black Swan' for example.

Now, I know 'The Tudors' is a bit...loose...with facts, but I really loved Natalie Dormer's Anne. IMO, she just got it.

  • @lilmizpinkbubblegum My thoughts exactly lol

  • I absolutely love Natalie Dormer as Anne Boleyn - have never seen someone acting like this! Amazing!! I started watching "The Tudors" after switch through the TV program and watching this last scene from season 2 coincidentally. I had never seen this show before and didn't know anything about it - but the last scene, where I saw Anne Boleyn executed was so shocked and i wanted to find out, what she had done to deserve that. I'm now much more interested in history than before - thanks Natalie ;)

  • Dormer all the wayyy <3

  • @coilxcept I am in agreement with you regarding Rampling and Bujold but in reverese order (sorry to the passionate Dormer/Portman corners, but agree there too!). I think it's a shame though that Charlotte was saddled with the myths of the large mole and "sixth" finger. Both stories were concocted posthumously by enemies and both if truly existing would have been mentioned frequently in contemporary letters and court calendars. The Spanish alone would've held the publishing monopoly!

  • @gotch09 Bernard Hepton played Cranmer in both the BBC miniseries of 1970 and the 1973 film of Henry and his queens. In addition, he played the role for the Glenda Jackson series Elizabeth R in 1971. He does a great job in all three in my opinion, and Elizabeth R in particular captures his Protestant torch-carrying devotion in the scenes with the young and dying Edward VI. If you look up Gerlach Flich's portrait of the Archbishop, you'll see that Hepton actually looks a great deal like Cranmer.

  • The scene at 2.17 it reminds me of a scene at the tudors because there are a scene what is the same as here.

    sorry for my bad english

  • @TheBullen1 I would say that to the end she remained The Most Happy. And if people would remember her kindly despite that unkind end, I think that she would be pleased enough with that tribute. :)
