Hi, I'm Rachel Greenwald and I'm the author of "Have Him At Hello" with Ask YourTango.

Today's question is, "There is this guy I have been talking to online, and we have met before. He seems to really like me and has asked for my number to go out on a date a few times. But the thing is I'm afraid I won't be attracted to him physically. Should I just go out on a date and see how it goes?"

The answer is absolutely yes. You should go out on a date and just see how it goes.

You know, I've been in the matchmaking business for over 10 years and there is only one constant that I've seen across every relationship and marriage I've arranged...

And that is that your future husband or wife is going to come in a package that is totally unexpected from the one you're looking for.

And attraction is really in the brain. It's something that grows on you because of something funny he says or something sweet that he does.

And you just won't know unless you try it, go on a date and keep an open mind, and just see if some physical attraction develops.

And, look, he's a big boy. He can handle rejection. You know, I'm sure this wouldn't be the first time someone's gone on a date and then not wanted to see him again.

This is all part of the dating game.

i've had an online dating experience where the guy i met had funny-looking hair. like a longer version of a bowl cut. did it stop me from talking to him? nope. it didn't stop me from dating him for two years either. people have more to offer than just their looks, and it's up to you to find out what that is :) how about you guys, anyone else have successful e-dates despite someone's look?

Online dating can also be really dangerous. What if this guy you're planning to meet turns out to be some serial rapist? I've never been able to trust online dating.

OMG i had the exact problem. i thought to myself so what if im not attracted to him whats the worse that cud hapeen? we be friends only? so i wnt for it. i loved his personality but i wasnt really into his looks....but we did end up making out and kissing etc.......so its not really that important because at the end of the day. our personalities clashed and it didnt work. BUT HEY!! i gave it a go. and i dont spend forever thinking WHAT IF??!
