aka "Can't Stop Thinkin' 'Bout You" from the Black Sheep album.

Martin Sexton is a musician originally from the Syracuse, New York area, and the brother of musician Colleen Sexton.

Martin Sexton began his career as a street performer in Boston's Harvard Square. With just a guitar and his multi-octave, jazz-inflected voice, he managed to sell 15,000 copies of his 1992 demo IN THE JOURNEY out of his guitar case. His strong live performances won him a Boston Music Award for "Best New Artist" and led to his being named "Artist of the Year" by the National Academy of Songwriters in 1994.[1]

He worked his way into the city's legendary folk club circuit and soon began touring, releasing his first full-length studio recording BLACK SHEEP in 1996, followed two years later by a major label debut on Atlantic Records, THE AMERICAN, produced by Danny Kortchmar. His second album on Atlantic, WONDER BAR, came out in 2000 and was self-produced by Sexton.

Following his departure from the major label, he formed his own independent label, Kitchen Table Records, and released 2002's LIVE WIDE OPEN, a two-disc live album. CAMP HOLIDAY, a seasonal album of Christmas standards, came out in 2005, and his latest original studio album is SEEDS, released in 2007.

That year, his song "Diner" reached a wide TV audience when it appeared in the Scrubs episode "My Night to Remember."

Sexton's music blends many genres of American music, including soul, gospel, country, rock, blues, and R&B. He is known for his wide vocal range and ability to improvise. Onstage, he often plays the guitar without a pick, using his thumb to play bass lines and his fingers for chords and melodies.

  • obviously 3 people stopped thinking about Martin.....no good

  • @kimfiano you aint lookin to hard,,,tons of new stuff. 'there go i', 'livin the life', 'marry me', 'boom sh boom',,,man the list goes on and on....so i promise if you look you will find.

  • Hasn't he recorded anything new? I saw him in 1996. Love him, and just am revisiting his Black Sheep CD. Came onto Youtube to see what his recent music is like. Nothing???

  • @thebigfatlongtube His Live Wide Open album is a live performance!

  • Martin sexton has been around long enough that he can pack a stadium anywhere. His vocal abilities and musical styling are far superior to Mayer...who will be lost in the abyss of yesterdays starlets as soon as his ass falls a little bit. I like Mayer...but I would buy a tabloid before I'd buy a concert ticket. However I would, have, and probably will again travel a couple of states over just to catch a second Sexton show (because he always comes to Charlotte)

  • So amazing. I worship the air you sing in.

  • @SeanDuncanMusic ...samesies...it's just like a love spell

  • @bathetcnow Utter nonsense. I like Martin Sexton (wouldn't have uploaded this if I didn't), and I do think his vocals are superior to John Mayer's. However, in other areas, like guitar playing, John Mayer is LIGHT YEARS ahead.

Mayer's already 'got there'. He's achieved success, not only as a radio-friendly acoustic ballad writer, but a superb blues guitarist.

  • @Makkitotosimew Whether one likes sexton or mayer etc....mayer is an infant compared to sexton vocally, melding vocals and guitar, inventing and creativity etc..........mayer will never get there as he doesn't have it and never will... ask him...he'll agree
