Demonstration of the physic engine havok fx

Havok has been acquired by Intel Corporation few month ago.

Using the multicore CPU, Intel begin to create 3D context without using a graphic card. The name of the different project are called : Larabee

The 3D scene is rendered by raytracing whereas rasterizing. Some demo have been done with Quake 4

  • @burntcerial Some games do. Look up the list on Google for games that use PhysX.

  • @fogglee PhysX is a physics framework, just like havok fx. Ageia used to sell dedicated cards that would accelerate the PhysX code much better than a CPU could. Nvidia bought Ageia, and implemented PhysX on their GPU's instead.

CPU's can never match the speed of GPU's when it comes to physics calculations, and any other sort of calculation that requires massively parallel processing. Intel is scared of Nvidia's progress in taking over most aspects of computing.

  • 4 years ago and nothing has changed....cmon you fucks!

  • @burntcerial i think that's because if someone made a game with physics like this only a few people would be able to play it.

  • too bad no games actually take advantage of physics like this, even crysis came on short in some ways regarding physics and destruction

  • @fogglee

What the PhysX are you talking about? Both Havoc and PhysX are physics software. There used to be physics cards that ran PhysX before Nvidia bought Ageia.

  • @fogglee I was aware that Both are programs however, later Nvidia graphics cards are PhysX ready.

  • @ernis1100 havok is a program, physX is a graphics card, you use physX with havok -.-

  • cool

  • havok owns physx, no doubt
