I could not finish my comments. Liberty Land is closed and so is the old fairgrounds, as we called it. Mayor Herrington decided that it could be used by others????? Since I was born in 1957 and know people who enjoyed this place before I was born I hate to say this, but my Mayor is black and I am white and have fond memories of the fairgrounds I would bet a million dollars that if Elvis were alive, he would do something about the closing of the fairgrounds and Liberty Land!!!!!!!

We did not save the Pippin, which was a favorite of Elvis. I have lived in Memphis all my life and it was a great old lumber ride that gave great joys to all Memphisians. So sad that Mayor Herenton does not connect with the 150 year tradition of the fair. It is very interesting! Look it up on the internet. Sorry I live in a city that is willing to give up such a long live community activity!!!!
