And it's called MIRROR - Music in the TOLEDO style
This project, "Espejo" (Mirror), features new and original music in the Toledo style. I think
that the name I have given to this very emotional production invites us to engage in
reflection and observation of ourselves in many different facets of daily life, including those
moments in which we lose our equilibrium to such a point that the earth seems to be
moving under our feet (Se ha movido).
To live in a Volcano of Love (Volcán de amor) makes us reflect on the times when love is lost.
Those who feel that a loved one shows too little respect for their thoughts and feelings
might end up pleading, "If you'd only listen to me..." (Sólo quiero que me escuches). Then
there's the very first moment of awareness, as in El día y tú, when the sight or smile of
someone special fills you with desire and makes time stand still, followed by the rest of the
day, which before nightfall, can turn into a love picnic (Picnic).
For many a man, nighttime turns out to be the ideal time for meeting the woman of his dreams
(Mujer). Someone, who doesn't want his lover to leave him, might try to convince her to stay and
dance out their love in a samba side-by-side, by serenading her with his "I will be yours" (Seré de ti).
"What game are you playing?" (¿A qué juegas?) is the question a man might ask when trying,
without permission, to remove the veil that hides the face of his lover, who doesn't want to
reveal herself completely because the wind and night might carry her away. The only true
friend he has to watch over his path is his mirror (Espejo), which sometimes speaks, sometimes
laughs, sometimes remains silent.
