A recent visit with my friend/composer/arranger/vocalist Nicholas Baker took us to a friend's home where a Theremin resides. The intent was to videotape Nick encountering this instrument for the first time and seeing how fast he could learn to play it. However there were analog synthesizers present, and he hadn't encountered one of those before either! He never made it over to the Theremin at all that day, but I monkeyed around with it for a while. I thought "Ave Maria" would be an easy enough melody to play on a Theremin, so Nick provided a piano accompaniment while I fished for the proper notes on the Theremin. Hey, it's got a nice beat and you can slow dance to it, okay?

  • Sorry, but the Yamaha DX7 and Clavia Nord Stage are NOT analog synthesizers....they are fully digital.

  • HAHA!! Nice! It's funny because when I played this video, my parrot Poky was in the other room could hear the theremin and it drove her in to a screeching FRENZY!

  • Awesome job!!

  • A very fun video! great piano work. Mixed in with some classic science fiction riffs.
