@gone2bch I started construction in the Virgin Islands, then shipped the boat to California, and finally to North Carolina. Yes, it is my own design.

@robertomcallister Yes, it is my own design. It took me about a month to work out the details.

how did you make the ends of the ply wood so narrow and sharp?

@theproudONE92 The secret was lots of bending, clamping, gluing, and then grinding!

how did u seal and finish it nice build btw

@switzercraftbullet All the joints were glued and sealed with epoxy. Then, the whole boat was covered with 6oz fiberglass cloth, with extra layers in key areas. Then, 4 or 5 coats of epoxy with pigment for a "gelcoat" finish. Then I painted it with EasyPoxy marine paint on the topsides and bottom paint on the bottom.

first of all congrats for living your dream...... could i ask what was the cost and hours it took to build?
qortin 1 year ago
@qortin Thank you very much! The total cost for materials was around $3000 spread out over four years. It is extremely difficult to estimate the number of hours I put into it. There were many long nights of designing, long days of labor, and then sometimes months were I could only get in a few hours. I think that if I hadn't been moving locations so much and if I had simplified some of the techniques, it could have been done in 6 months.
