  • I'm half Sicilian born here. Don't forget the German immigrants that settled on 86th Street in Yorkville. There were still quite a few of them up until the mid sixties...but they all left and that world is gone. I remember it as a little boy. They were good people. Industrious, honest, hard workers with a love of life. Work and Life were one in the same to them. It pains me that my grandparents and mother who came here first in 1923 are forgotten by all but me...because they were German.
