"You mean we're supposed to check the rating before seeing it with kids?"
Yes, that's the whole point of the rating system. Not knowing that makes you an exceptionally dumb parent, not to mention irresponsible.
And while I'm at it, could these same dumb parents who bring their crying, screaming brats to every movie, whether it's appropriate for them to see or not, leave the kids at home with someone else out of consideration for the rest of us? They're called "babysitters". Try one sometime.
Well, one thing to check out is the seal or logo of the organization.
There were three different logos for the organization.
The MPPDA and the old MPAA logos both share a similar design: A tall oval with the first letters of each word of the organization's name in a stylized font inside it.
The third iteration of the logo is the familiar film reel globe that's been in use since its creation in the 1960s.

I learned about the Hayes Code in college, when I was studying Communications.
I also love the "GP" rating

I could tell the difference. It's just that I though the MPDAA and the MPAA were two separete organizations. Guess I was wrong.

Hmm. Never knew that.

The MPPDA *is* the MPAA; they changed their name in the late 1940s.

Thank you for correcting me on that, but I was talking about when the MPAA was formed in 1968.
