Hi, my name is Josh Kallenberg and I'm here at the Van Nuys Airport in Los Angeles, California. I've been flying professionally for about 13 years, and now I have the pleasure of flying this Gulfstream G450 which is a lot of fun and exciting. And today I'm going to talk to you about becoming a pilot. So how to become an airline pilot or sometimes we refer to it as a commercial pilot. There's a few ways. Some people take a route of flying with a regional airline or feeder airline. You might recognize it as a United Express. These are the smaller jets or the smaller turbo props and share the major airlines logo but they usually take the shorter routes. That's one way of getting on with them. Usually a minimum of around five hundred hours. Again I think a thousand hours is kind of a nice number where they start to look at you. You know the airlines again are looking for also not only quantity of hours but the quality of hours you experience. So towing banners over the beach or skyriding while being interesting and fun, realistically if you want to build quality hours that they would be looking for flying a corporate aircraft or something with more than one engine, turbine or turbo prop. Those are things that they would probably have preference towards.
