Buddy Merrill is a fantastic guitarist and steel guitarist best known for his many years on the Lawrence Welk show. Few people know just HOW good he really was, and we are going to put a few clips on youtube to help set the record straight.
Here Buddy plays the Western Swing standard "Panhandle Rag" on a super early Fender Stratocaster, given to him by Leo Fender.
TONE FOR DAYS... SOUNDS LIKE A MAGNATONE AMP.

@GRIFTINGCOWBOYS ... I fell in love w/Buddy's Stratocaster & Custom Ordered the same guitar (blonde w/black anodized pickguard) in late 1958 & received it in 1959 (date on base of neck 1959) Was told by a collector that Buddy's & mine were the only ones like it he had ever seen. Asked what that same guitar would sell for in 2009 he told me: 'in pristeen condition; about $150,000. - definitely should have kept it.
