  • This video makes me feel dirty. *blush* I think we need to see more people who know what they're doing, and perhaps a change of.. hand motions. Perhaps adding MotionPlus modules to the remotes would help a little too. Just a thought.

  • MotionPlus is a very good point and we are actually close to having MotionPlus work with our setup. As for the motion of hands, I guess it depends a lot what is on one's mind :-).

In this case we were going for the infinite bowing motion to allow for uninterrupted sound. That said, this is a rough footage of one of our early rehearsals of this piece, so there is an apparent level of discomfort among performers associated with mastering of a new technique...

  • This seems like a really neat idea, and in the very beginning when its just 1 guy it seems like the possibilities are endless, but then the entire rest of this video is like 20 confused students mucking about with it and just creating a bunch of constant noise. Meh. I'd like to see more people who know what they're doing use it.

  • It is actually a lot more difficult than it may look. Controllers are loaded with functions: joysitck lets adjust pitch, nunchuk's roll controls lowpass filter and a vocoder, a jolt on a nunchuk allows you to enter an alternate pitch selection mode, z button+yaw adjusts delays, etc.

The wiimote in the sustained example basically emulates motion of an infinite bow, while the initial couple of seconds it emulates a mallet--we track its orientation to differentiate between 8 different "hits."

  • This is wonderful - And far more tuneful than most things infesting the charts these days!

When can we expect an album...and is there a website or mailing list?

  • Thank you very much for your kind words. You can find more about L2Ork via the link provided in the description. We do hope to release a CD once we have a CD-worth of music. As for mailing lists, as soon as we work all the kinks out we will make our mailing list public in hope to foster collaboration with other laptop orchestras as well as Linux and FOSS community.

    Hope this helps!

  • Cool, wiimote hero! :)

  • Me gusta la innovación y el concepto, para progresar hay que sacudir las cosas !

keep up this good work !

  • You are a weird bunch :)

  • We've recorded footage now of our sneak preview concert and we should be able to have more material available for viewing soon :)

Our first concert was great, we filled the theatre and people were standing in the back :)

  • Do you mean a song as something somebody else wrote that doesn't have a score? Seems to me they are all playing a composition. I'm happy to see it going that route. Maybe you'd like the buttons to trigger Michael Jackson Loops?

  • MSI Wind U100 netbooks, nice :)

  • really cool sounding! keep it up!

  • Man, I can't wait to see newer footage demonstrating the people actually playing a song. Very impressive.
