Mr. O`bannon was such a wonderful man. I am so honored to have met him! When he passed away, my mom took it pretty hard because she had been working for him for many , many years ! He had such a warm heart and great intelligence. Truly miss his this quirky man ! He was awesome !

I was surprised that you didn't mention Dark Star, which he co-wrote with John Carpenter (Carpenter's first film as a Director). The film is quite funny. Of course Alien and Return of the Living Dead are films everyone will remember him for. Cool that you mentioned them.

I have Dark Star which is John Carpenter's 1st film he made and Dan O'Bannon was a good friend of his and co-wrote Dark Star with JC after they graduated from film school.

Actuall the first movie to have running zombies was an Italian movie called Nightmare City, which 28 Day Later kind of ripped off.

I heard about his death last friday. No need to say, it changed my movie evening right away. I watched Alien.. RIP Dan. We will miss you. :(

agreed, the man did much more work over the years, and my hope is that people will seek it out. The history of his credit for Alien could be a documentary all its own.
