Video highlights of this 2005 fight. Leavander Johnson was making the first defence of the IBF lightweight title he won 3 months earlier. Shortly after the end of the fight he collapsed in his dressing room and was rushed to hospital where he underwent emergency surgery for swelling and bleeding on the brain. He died five days later.

  • RIP LEAVANDER JOHNSON!!! YOU ARE A GOOD BOXER

  • when you box you know the risks involved. it's no secret.

  • I Hate to be the bad guy but Chavez earned his nickname "El Matador" - The Killer

  • RIP LJ, you will always be a champion.

  • RIP Leavander Johnson. The boxing world still mourns your loss.

  • I watched this fight live on PPV. Johnson came out to a rap song with himself in the lyrics. Something like " Can't nobody fuck with Leavander Johnson" or something like that. It was a hell of a fight. Johnson collapsed in his dressing room after the fight. During the PPV, Jim Lampley kept the viewing public informed about Johnson's condition after the fight. And, as it turned out, he was placed in a drug-induced coma and, though showing signs of improvemnt, the improvement stopped 5 days later.
