good vid im glad lyoto machida has got a long over due title shot and i think mma is already pretty mainstream and still the fastest growing sport in the world
Great video you know your MMA, I think Machida made a good point saturday by knocking out Silva. I think if he and Okami keep winning its bound to happen. About the old champs I agree but I dont think its bad for the sport because a person can only fight for so long and its always good to see the new young blood step up, like we saw in ufc 94 with Jon Jones who is only 21.
excellent analysis. i'd like to hear more about why you think MMA will not become a worldwide accepted sport. and compared to what sport? even football is not really a worldwide recognized sport compared to soccer, tennis, marathons, etc. do you think MMA has already hit it's peak and is in decline, or do you think it's still making progress in terms of getting a fan base and recognition from the mass media and sports authorities?
If i had to compare it to a sport i would have to say some kind of sport like baseball, i say this because of the arguments that are still out there about it being human cock fighting and etc. i dont think it has hit its peak yet and i dont think it will really have a peak that i can see, its a growing and evolving sport with a rapidly expanding fanbase that is starting to get recognized by big time sports outlets, for example last night during ufc 93 i saw on the bottom ticker mma results
i'd like to see MMA in the olympics someday. it could replace Taekwando, which, aside from a few flashy and amazing kicks here and there, i find really boring to watch. i wonder how many countries have to participate in a sport before they allow it in the olympics. MMA already seems to be pretty international as it is so maybe it's not too far away!
i would also like to see it in the olympics but they wouldnt let it take place under current rules, as like boxing they would have to make it a point system and as safe as possible for the athletes
MMA is far too brutal for the Olympics..you'd need to take out knockouts and basically turn it into a points sparring match..as well as train fighters differantly from the start
