I admit I mostly listen to bop from 50's and 60's, and swing jazz from Duke, Coleman Hawkins and the like. Renee Rosnes is a contemporary piano and composer I really like. Branford Marsalis Quartet is my favorite contemporary band. I like Joe Lovano's work alot, and Roy Hardgrove's straitahead stuff. Eric Reed, Rebecca Coupe-Franks, Steve Turre, Jeremy Pelt, Miquel Zenon, David Sanchez, Keith Jarrett are other modern folks I like, and I'm just discovering Marie Schnieder.

What do you Jazz fans think of the state of jazz today? There are a lot of amazing new school talent out there, i like Diana Krall a lot too but i still must say no school like the old school. My favorite jazz albums are Coltranes "A Love Supreme" and "Time Out" by Dave Brubeck Quartet.

@iscream22 It's really hit or miss, as it probably always has been. In every genre you have the greats (new and old) and the ones that are not so great. I enjoy Diana Krall, I'm a big fan of Michael Buble, but I'm mostly a Jazz Fusion person myself. In which case I love Hiromi's Sonicbloom with Dave Fiuczynski and the like.

I love Miles Davis' attitude. His way or the highway.
