Vrschika (scorpion) is an arm balancing pose that strengthens the shoulders and chest muscles. Kneel on the floor with your forearms parallel. Place the weight on the inner arms to the wrists and keep the fingers flat. Exhale, bend the knees and lift both legs upward. Support the posture by extending up with the chest and head. Raise the neck by opening the chest and stretch the spine over your head. Exhale, slowly lower your feet onto the ground. Stay and breathe. Exhale, lift one leg upward. Extend upward and drawing the navel inward. Hold and breathe. Exhale, release one leg and the other. Sit in vira (hero pose).

Benefits: Open the lungs, develops balance and mobility. It is said by placing the feet onto one's head pride, anger and arrogance are tempered, if not reduced. By touching the head these are replaced with humility, grace and tolerance.

Pre-requisite: Basic scorpion with straight legs, headstand and the wheel.
