I would first make sure you have a good connection by putting the hose on the flask and turning it on. Then put the filter vac on funnel and place hand over it to make sure there are no leaks. Then put funnel in flask and also put hand over it. If there is a leak and you dont check you may be waiting a very long time for gravity filtration. Also I would add the solid containing solution slowly and only to the center of the filter paper That way your yeild wont be so scattered and easier to rinse
