  • Caywood Ledford is one of the alltime great basketball announcers. First, I'll admit to being a lifetime DUKE fan. But his call of the Laettner shot in the 1992 East Regional far, far overshadows the call by the Duke radio announcer, and Verne Lindquist on CBS. I'll reconstruct what he said, the best I can ...

" ... Here's Grant Hill with the lonnnnng pass to Laettner, who turns ... shoots... GOOD..... (long pause) .... and THAT's WHY THEY'RE NUMBER 1 ! " It was a truly unforgettable ...

  • Von Wedeking stopped in front of Issel in Jacksonville game--Issel never saw him and took a charging call and he was just heading back down the floor, didn't even have the ball.

Issel fouled out and Artis Gilmore's Jacksonville team beat us.

At least Artis and Issel won a ABA championship together in 1975

  • Cawood Ledford is one of the coolest people that I ever had the chance to speak with in my life. Cawood was what I call classy cool. I have Cawood's autograph from the day I got to speak with him in 1994. Hearing his voice and delivery brings back so many memories as a kid. God Bless Cawood Ledford and whoever posted this on youtube.
