This is a sample/test of how the fujufilm Z33 waterproof point and shoot digital camera does taking video. I used a few old tripod parts to make my own mount that bolts to the side fairing of my motorcycle. I took the bike out for a short spin around the block. I put the camera in "anti-blur" setting which supposedly also works when using the video mode. The bike is a Yamaha YZF600r.

I think it worked out well. There is almost no shaking or strange artifacts that usually come along with vibration. This will be nice when I do a track day in the rain.

  • Looks really stable and the mic seems to pick up a nice balance of the noise of the road, wind and engine. Nice how you can see your hand applying the brakes, too. I can imagine seeing Deal's Gap from this rearward-facing view, perhaps capturing a chopper rider disappearing into a hole off the side of the road as you pass him on the curves.

  • Yes, I eventually want to make it to the beloved "Tail of the Dragon," however I know plenty of fantastic roads in our neck of the woods. My stomping ground includes most of SW Washington and NW Oregon... with occasional trips out east. Stay tuned for actual videos of the rides!

Oh, by the way, the camera is mounted on the left side of my motorcycle, and the lever you see is actually the clutch.

  • Oh okay, the clutch, I see. That knowledge will help if I ever need to commandeer a motorcycle during my forays into the metropolitan area, as I've never driven one. I drove a 3 wheeler when I was a kid before they were outlawed, but that was about 20 years ago.
