I don't know about Dave but I would have shaken their hands.

you obviously never listened to dookie or something, they were actually a respectable (pop)-punk revival band until they came up with american idiot; if you couldn't find out about that jarring transition then you know shit about music all together.

@idoforensics Letterman is a dude and his musical director is, too.

Doesn't Nathan look like Jack Lawrence from The Dead Weather a little bit?

Trying too hard and over complicating is an amateur mistake which Kings of Leon are too intelligent and professional to make. Green Day is a bad band because they have one sound and havn't evolved at all since they found it. Both bands discovered how to make their music commercially relevant but Green Day couldn't expand. KOL have changed and gotten better with every album while at the same time never losing touch with how they got there. Thats why KOL is an amazing band and Green Day isordinary

@benrox26 ya. whoever thinks there simple obviously isn't paying attention. They don't do more then they should. They play for the overall sound of the song. Putting a part in just for the sake of it is a mistake a lot of amateur musicians make. A band is a team and Kings of Leon understands that as good as any band out there. Look at Pink Floyd and Primus. Their music stays simple until it is absolutely necessary to complicate things.

@benrox26 No doubting KOL are more complex than the "gay" bands you named, but theres no doubting Green Day write catchy singalong tunes, just go to one of their live gigs and see the energy... Never seen KOL live, but known and loved them since their first album along with strokes, libertines etc etc... Can't call a band "gay" because you dont like them

I don't think they sold out at all. OBTK is only considered "mainstream" and "selling out" because it became so popular in America. If they had stayed under the radar with that album like they did with every other album, nodody would be accusing them of selling out.
I also find them to be the same brilliant guys they were when they were fresh out of Nashville.
So i think it's about time ppl stopped calling them "sell outs" they're AMAZING
