I think they learned a valuable lesson here. You don't fuck with Vader!

guys! it's a frackin' spoof/parody/appropriation and a well done one at that! this isn't the place to argue about the scientific validity of 'trek when compared to 'wars; it's a place where we can laugh at both! and comment/criticize the effectiveness of the maker at melding the two worlds together humorously! besides star wars and star trek are, thematically and plot-wise, so different; the issue ain't that contentious when you look at the big picture.

sorry, but your statement is irrelevant, you may like your interpretation of Star Wars more, but you certainly don't "understand" it better.

and yes there are maneuverability issues with having the engines like that on a wedge shape, but it would increase their acceleration considerably, which is what I meant by "faster" I know full well that absolute velocity is a meaningless concept in space.

but it's also an issue of structural stability and firepower concentration.

You know the accelleration of the Enterprise is pretty much instantaneous, right? This is because it's propulsion doesn't use rockets to hit light speed (that would be physically impossible).
Also, if one were to hypothetically make a military spacecraft, one of the stupidest things to do would be to face all it's weaponry in one direction, then design the shape so it's obvious as to which way it's facing.

no it's not, the Enterprise's acceleration is 1000g with it's Impulse Drive, a Star Destroyer's acceleration is 2100g with the Ion Drive, they both seem to go to ftl nearly instantly, a Star Destroyer due to it's Hyperdrive (which has nothing to do with the Ion engines) and the Enterprise due to warp (which has nothing to do with the Impulse engines)

however, unlike the Enterprise, the Star Destroyer doesn't need huge, ungainly and brittle nacelles to go FTL.

Oh, and to vote all my comments negatively like that because you think Trek lacks any kind of basis on real science in addition to think Star Wars is completely scientifically valid... Well that just makes you batshit insane.

It's kind of funny, because I haven't stooped to that level of insecure immaturity.

um, no, I downvote your comments because they are incorrect, and I never said that Star Wars was remotely scientifically valid, just that neither of them are

in case you weren't paying attention, that has been the entire point.

So basically, what you're saying is: if a spacecreaft is fatter in the back it can fit more engines and therefore it can go faster. I commend you on your genius, sir. You shall give even Stephen Hawins a run for the money!
