Dr. Jennifer Hartley studied theatre (acting and directing) and therapy after completing a degree in Literature and Linguistics in the UK. From here she developed a working practise that combined art and therapy to work with issues of oppression worldwide. She is a specialist in using drama theories and methodology to work in challenging settings and runs projects in a number of countries. An international speaker, lecturer and trainer on both theory and practice, Jennifer specialises in therapy through drama working in Applied Theatre, from which she has developed her own methods; a practise she now uses to work with minority and oppressed groups internationally. Jennifer also writes for and directs theatre worldwide. Her publications include academic studies, plays, poetry and prose. Jennifer is also the founder and director of the UK registered charity Theatre versus Oppression.

What is TEDx?
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxKrungthep, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxKrungthep event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
