  • @justinlovespastry As for the ending, the lighter thing is new. The ending of the original 1960s version, is just the Emcee in a tux singing "Auf Wiedersehen...à bientôt...", then just walking offstage. In the revival in the 1990s, which started the whole "Emcee as an oversexualized dude with a coat" and the "concentration camp clothes ending", the Emcee starts removing his coat while singing Auf Wiedersehen...à bientôt..." and then takes the coat off, to the horror and shock of the audience.

  • @justinlovespastry Symbolism. The Emcee acts as a portrayal of the decadent but free-spirited lifestyle common in pre-Nazi Germany, and as Nazism rises and his version of Germany dies, his grand act of over-the-top sexuality and hedonism diminishes and diminishes until, ultimately, he meets the same fate as many real life cabaret actors did in real life: death by concentration camp. Wow, I really went on a tangent there. hope it answered your question though.

  • Is this how it originally ended? And was Emcee supposed to be Jewish or was that symbolism?

  • Got the full video anywhere lad? Impressive stuff

  • Fantastic Emcee! :)
