  • Apart from being a fine version of the song. This is sung with the original lyrics, which were too hard hitting for America and promptly altered to the words we all are familiar with. The banned lyrics show up the cynicism of hollywood

  • That's a very interesting information! Thank you

  • Some of your risque photos are so classy ( 0:35 and 0:58 )!! However the one at 1:30 is just nutz!!

  • Hi Grzegorz - I really like this vid - the music and artwork and everything about it. That Chanukah present fascinates me as well. I can't wait! Happy Chanukah to you - as well!!!

  • I just LOVE this version. I first heard it in "Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day" and fell for it.

  • The source for this recording; does it admit to any kind of noise reduction such as "CEDAR" on it?

  • Unbelievable!!! Music from the 30s is my favorite.

  • These lyrics were never "banned." They would not be used in a Hollywood film, of course, but they were recorded by Cole Porter and others.

Another line, heard on the Dorsey Brothers Decca recording;:

If Mrs. R. [Roosevelt} with all her trimmin's

Can broadcast a bed for Simmons

    then I suppose

    Anything Goes.

This referred to Eleanor Roosevelt's appearances on radio--sponsored by Simmons Mattresses.

It was not the only money-making enterprise Eleanor got into while First Lady.
