A typewriter was a mechanical or electromechanical device with keys that, when pressed, cause characters, numbers or punctuation to be printed on a medium, usually paper.

  • You can still buy a new one.

  • Y flipped with z, didn't know about that... interesting. Why did they change it? I heard (not sure if a trustable source, because I don't remeber) qwerty doesn't mind the most used keys when typing, you could say they were put together in a random way?

  • Ok GLaDOS

  • @terrapin52 "Lorem Ipsum Dolor Sit Amet" This is Lorem Ipsum ( a latin form of word-filling and abbrevition. What he typed was the latin abreviation for ""Neque porro quisquam est qui dolorem ipsum quia dolor sit amet, consectetur, adipisci velit..." Which in itself means "There is no one who loves pain itself, who seeks after it and wants to have it, simply because it is pain..."

  • Nicely done.

Cool Olivetti (they're all pretty) and music.

  • I like the editing effects, makes you think this video was made a long time ago. :)

  • @cheers1095 Nope, typewriter users transcend any particular style or trend. But they are certainly a minority, which is how I'll translate "Nobody likes them." Tell me something I don't know.

@HLD452 A few manual portables are still produced in China and Taiwan, though they aren't any good. Look for '30s-'50s machines.

  • Who can figure out what was typed?

  • The manual typewriters? They're already dead. None has manufactured them since April 2011 when the last factory who produces manuals closed down. Although I have a manual at home, I still liked it. Typewriters are still in production, but only those new electronic ones (in plastic). I read somewhere that China still manufactures them.
