Bobby came to Great Scotts in Allston, MA last night, a somewhat intimate venue. Bobby never stops surprising me. I have been to 10 shows since 2009 and it amazes me that I can see him 3 times a year and he always brings 'it' and in a way that feels new, old, and different all rolled together. He strummed and sang with and immense amount of soul and energy, his performance felt raw and haunting. Jack Dawson is flawless on the violin, truly the perfect complement to bobby's music. Their sound together just fills you up - you just don't get that feeling from a cd or video, it is truly an experience. They stuck around after to sign cd's and chat. Bobby was gracious and light hearted. Jack Dawson, it seems, has personality and a half! Outgoing and gracious as well. I picked up my copy of the Backing Singer EP and will attest to its superb quality. The songs were quite simply amazing and the sound on this one is haunting (only wish it was another vinyl).
