Lowell Hahn describes the beginnings of the Washburn Law Journal in the early 1960s during the Journal's 50th Anniversary Celebration held Saturday, April 16, 2011, in Topeka, Kansas. See http://washburnlaw.edu/news/2011/2011-04wljbanquet.php for more information. Hahn discusses how the first volume was developed and created. The editors attended the National Conference of Law Reviews. A printer in Topeka was identified and a cover was designed. It was determined that all articles would conform to Harvard Bluebook citation form and be edited for proper English grammar. Hahn concludes that as a result of participation in law journal his practice was positively impacted because it gave him the tools to write better pleadings, motions, and briefs. Eric Turner, volume 50 editor-in-chief, introduces Lowell Hahn.
