I hooked up eight DPDT relays to make a four bit binary counter and this is used to count pulses from a rotary phone dial. This is actually a pretty old circuit and implements a ripple counter. I have a much better synchronous counter design. More information at http://mindlock.wordpress.com/
this is just great!
