Set in the 1960s at a school in Cambridge for the teaching of English to foreign students.
The lives and problems of the characters half a dozen teachers and the assistant Headmaster Eddie are revealed in the teachers staffroom, which is the setting of most scenes.
Terms as used in the title refers not only to Quartermaine himself but to the school terms which provide a structure for both the play and the characters lives.

Thx for putting this on.I was listening to a new radio version a few days ago with Michael Palin as QM. It was ok but i can't imagine anyone else but EF as QM or JG as eddie.
