2405 had a nicely tuned K5LA.

CSX Q191-25 heads up the Wood Connecting Track from the Trenton Line onto the Morrisville Line. The train stops at the CP West Lang signal just short of the switch to wait for 14G and 17G. He would wait there for 2 hours.

  • Great video! 5252's horn sounded a lot more like a K5LA than a K5HL.

  • Thanks, it sounded like a hybrid.

  • It really does. Still, it's cool hearing a horn like that coming from a GEVO, which seem to be dominated by the K5HLL.

  • True, but some of the ES44DC's have some nice K5LA's, search "CSX 5426".

  • awesome video, Q438 was really flying, you caught a lot for just an hour!

  • I sure did, thanks!

  • CSXT 5252's horn seems to be a well tuned Nathan K5HR24. These were the replacements to several K5LAR24's on the AC4400CW's, C40-8W's, C40-8's and AC6000CW's. As for the horn on 5426, it is a "Third Generation K5LA." They sound pretty nasty to me. They have an overblowing 5 bell, and a bad diaphragm. I wish they would've never left the first generation of K5LA's.
