Polio victim Melvin Endsley wrote 'Singing The Blues', 'Knee Deep In The Blues' and 'I Like Your Kind Of Love.' He also wrote this great country ballad that is superbly sung by the great Don Gibson. Not only was Don one of the top 3 country songwriters of all time he sang sad songs like he was living them and he probably was.
My thanks to Dave Jones in Florida for getting this song to me; cheers Dave.

  • I didn't know he'd recorded the song. I have 3 versions; Don Gibson's, Faron Young and Johnny Cash.

  • One of my favorite songs by Don. I also love the Brown's version of the song. I just wish I could find some videos of Don Gibson singing his hits, particularly, "A Legend in My Time". If anyone has any videos of Don, please post them. I am pretty sure I am not the only one who would love to see them. He was quite a talent as a singer and songwriter and I hate it that he is gone from this life.

  • Don is in the top greatest artists of all time. He has such a warm and pleasant voice - very sexy. I like this old song - can't recall who sang it the first time I ever heard it.

Don is a perfect example of a true country artist. We need those and I wish that his songs and those of other great traditional country artists could be heard on the radio - by the whole world in fact. Thank you for posting this winner. - Paula

  • thanks. Don is the man.

  • this is the best version

  • This song was also recorded by The Browns---Jim Ed, Maxine and Bonnie.

  • Sir Cliff Richard has a nice version of this song.
