Good grief. You all obviously have the internet. Google the definition for crying out loud! The Akhal Teke is akin to the Arabian, Trakehner and yes - what we know as the Thoroughbred breed. Closed books that allow zero outside blood. (Not like the QH which allows TB blood, Paint which allows TB and QH, most warmbloods which allow Arab & TB etc. etc.)

They're beautiful but I'm confused by your description. I thought these were Akhal Tekes. Why do you say they're Thoroughbreds? They look nothing like TBs.

Thoroughbred is not a class, its a distinct breed, TBs and Akhal Tekes belong to the Hot Blood class.

The word thoroughbred can also just mean purebred.

@nags2bitches Perhaps any purebred any USED to be called a thoroughbred, but now that there is a breed that is actually CALLED the thoroughbred, that practice has stopped, at least in most countries. Its kinda funny that thoroughbred means a purebred animal when the thoroughbred breed itself is a cross breed.

@TreasureOne Not Olde Englishe sweety, just normal everyday English, thoroughbred means pure, it doesn't imply a breed. It applys to dog's cat's cattle sheep...Any pure-bred animal is called a thoroughbred. btw whats with the personal comments ? Are they necessarry ? It isn't me teasing the cat, and I don't condone or admire the behaviour, and I don't recall making any personal comment about you, just answering your question ( quote " I'm confused..Why do you say they are thoroughbreds ..." )
