This is the Sega Model 2 arcade version. The sega saturn doesnt have the 3d background effects (especially the moving danger zone). It basically replaced all of that with flat backgrounds. The arcade version was the only doa1 game which featured the intro with kasumi holding her sword. The Saturn version just had an FMV

Ah, I was wondering why it looked so good. The Model 2 games are so beautiful, even to this day, and it saddens me that there haven't been arcade-perfect ports. The first time I saw VF 2 was like a religious experience (it happened at a church festival, no kidding) and the PS2 port was lousy. Here's hoping for a Model 2 renaissance someday.
