Brisca F1 Stock Cars 2009 Semi Final Coventry1-8-09. Smith wins off Pole Hines Falding Lund Newson

Brisca F1 Stock Cars 2009 Semi Final from Coventry Stadium. Pole-sitter Andy Smith leads the pack round on the slow rolling lap. Matt Newson appears to get a slight jump on Smith, and edges into the lead entering the first bend. Sadly for Newson, it wasn't to last. Former multi-World Champion John Lund was an early victim, loosing best part of two laps, c/o another ex-World Champion in the form of Murray Harrison. Despite several cautions, Smith never faltered and took an easy win. The promise of a strong challenge from Newson faded away... Struggling with lack of brakes, Newson did well to get his car to the finish safely, although 6th place isn't what Matt would have wanted. Paul Hines drove well and took a credible second. After hanging up his helmet at the end of last season, and opting to take up his right to grid up for the Semi, Peter Falding came home in third. So for Falding, a Row4 start in the World, a position that has seen him previously take victory. Only a fool would bet against him pulling it off again !
